The Golden Sun

Monochromatic color schemes has been something I have always wanted to try. This was a test painting I did exploring the options available by using variations of the same color. Painted from pure imagination.

In painting this, I prevented myself from using any white. The effect of the bright light is an optical illusion of the canvas showing through the think layers of paint. The stream slowly moved on into the distance. Many European artists long ago used to paint landscapes that were monochromatic. The colors used for this painting were burnt umber, and a touch of yellow ochre.

When looking at this painting, just stare at it. Does this evoke any feelings or moods to you?

I am planing to explore this all again soon.
