contemporary portraits

Decided to take a lot of the techniques I have learned over the past several months and bring them all together in 1 painting. I completed this on an Ampersand panel with a drip technique I learned from a Patrick Saunders workshop.

Felt like the portrait came together well and the mood it exudes really makes it a home run. I get many questions from other artists in how I maintain my painterly style. The answer: use big brushes. Making sure to always keep your size brush in the same proportion as to the panel or canvas size. I used a size 10 and 12 flat to complete this self portrait.

Cheers!
